I Need Luv Cruise

Mya is a Grammy Award winner, recording artist, songwriter, producer, dancer, actress and entrepreneur whose career spans nearly three decades. From defining hits in R&B and pop to film, television and her independent label, Planet 9, she has built a body of work rooted in versatility, creative ownership and a lasting connection with audiences around the world.

In 2026, Mya released RETROSPECT, her 10th studio album, through her independent label Planet 9 of nearly 20 years distributed by Virgin Music Group. Arriving May 15th, the project brings together funk, soul, R&B and dance, drawing on the music of the 1970s and 1980s with a contemporary perspective. Collaborators include D-Nice, Snoop Dogg, Too $hort, Joyner Lucas and 21 Savage, with songs including “Give It to You,” “ASAP” and “Just a Little Bit” showcasing her affinity for rhythm, melody and movement. RETROSPECT places the joy of performance at its center, connecting her musical influences with the artist she has become.

Mya made her recording debut in 1998 at age 18, introducing audiences to “It’s All About Me,” “Movin’ On” and “My First Night With You.” Her subsequent albums, Fear of Flying and Moodring, delivered signature songs including “Case of the Ex,” “Best of Me,” “Free,” “My Love Is Like… Wo” and “Fallen.” Collaborations such as “Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are),” “Take Me There” and “Girls Dem Sugar” further established her ability to move across R&B, hip-hop, pop and dancehall.

In 2001, she joined Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim and P!nk for “Lady Marmalade” from the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack. The recording spent five weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the artists the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026, the collaboration remains a landmark in her career.

As the founder of Planet 9, Mya has cultivated an independent career centered on artistic freedom and a direct relationship with her fans. Her independently released Smoove Jones earned a nomination for Best R&B Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards, a significant milestone in a catalog she has continued to develop on her own terms.

Her work on screen includes the Academy Award winning film Chicago, for which she shared a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the ensemble cast. Additional credits include Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, Shall We Dance?, Cursed and Lifetime’s My Favorite Christmas Melody. Her dance training and performance range also took center stage on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, where she finished as runner-up in 2009, with the highest scores of Season 9.

Beyond entertainment, Mya advocates for animal welfare, compassionate living, arts education and LGBTQ+ equality. Her philanthropic work includes the Mya Arts & Tech Foundation and support for organizations including World Animal Protection, Animals Asia, GLAAD and MusiCares.

A seasoned live performer, Mya joined Xscape and SWV on the 2024 Queens of R&B Tour, with appearances at venues including Madison Square Garden.  Mya joined several dates on the Brandy and Monica “Boy Is Mine” Tour in 2025, making viral impact.  And in 2026, Mya delivered a standout tribute to Aaliyah at the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture during a star-studded segment curated by Missy Elliott.  In 2026, she signed with WME for worldwide representation across all areas, supporting the next chapter of her work in music, touring, film, television, fashion, wellness and brand partnerships.
